Paula Badosa retorts question about Stefanos Tsitsipas as things heat up | Tennis | Sport

Paula Badosa hit back when a fan accused her of not keeping her relationship private.

Apart from a brief separation at the beginning of the year, the Spaniard has been together with Stefanos Tsitsipas since last May.

After the camera caught them holding hands during a cool-down in the gymnasium at the Cincinnati Open, Badosa accused a spectator of not being informed and told him to “relax.”

“Tsitsidosa” is one of several power couples in the tennis world, joining the likes of Elina Switolina and Gael Monfils and Katie Boulter and Alex De Minaur. They first confirmed their relationship last year via Spotify.

They briefly split this spring, and when they reconciled, Badosa admitted their relationship had previously been too public and said they were keeping things more private now. But after cameras caught the couple stretching together at the gym, a fan tried to confront her.

The video, shared by the ATP’s Tennis TV account and retweeted by Tsitsipas, shows the ATP No. 11 and the recent Washington champion lying on separate mats with their legs in the air and holding hands.

One follower commented: “When they got back together they said, ‘I mean, it’s our private life. I think one of the things we didn’t like is that it was so public, so now we want to keep it to ourselves.’ So why don’t they.”

And Badosa was quick to clap back. “Unfortunately, we didn’t know there were cameras there. I just finished my match, no one was in the gym, we were just stretching and chatting after my win. So please, before you judge and talk so much, get informed and relax a bit. Thank you,” she replied.

The Spaniard is letting her tennis speak for itself this week in Cincinnati. She has made it to the semifinals and will face number 6 seed Jessica Pegula. It is her first semifinal at WTA 1000 level since Indian Wells 2022.
